Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about sourcing auto parts from Canada
🔧 Engine Questions
Common questions about sourcing used and replacement engines
What types of engines do you supply?
Canada Parts Exports supplies a wide range of engines including used imported engines, long blocks, and complete engine assemblies from Japanese, European, American, and Korean manufacturers. Common options include Toyota, Honda, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, Nissan, Hyundai, and many others.
Do you supply new engines or only used?
We source used imported engines, rebuilt engines, and new aftermarket engines depending on availability. Most inquiries are for quality used imported engines sourced from low-mileage vehicles in Japan, Canada, and Europe. Condition and type will be confirmed at the time of your quote.
How do I know which engine fits my vehicle?
The most reliable way is to provide your vehicle’s VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), engine code, year, make, model, and engine size. If you are unsure of your engine code, a photo of the engine identification plate helps us identify the correct match.
Are engines tested before shipping?
Testing and condition details vary by supplier and unit. Specific testing status for each engine will be confirmed as part of your quote. We recommend always asking about testing status when confirming your order.
Can I get a complete engine with transmission?
Yes — combined engine and transmission packages are available for some models. Please specify in your inquiry if you require both components together, and we will source them accordingly.
⚙️ Transmission & Gearbox Questions
Questions about automatic, manual, and specialized gearboxes
What transmissions do you carry?
Canada Parts Exports supplies automatic transmissions, manual transmissions, 4WD transfer cases, and gearboxes for a wide range of vehicle makes and models. Popular units include Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Hilux, Mercedes-Benz, and many others.
How do I identify the correct transmission for my vehicle?
The most reliable identifiers are the transmission code (usually found on a plate on the transmission body), vehicle VIN, year, make, model, and engine type. Please include 2WD or 4WD/AWD specification as this affects compatibility.
Do you supply gearboxes for older vehicles?
We can attempt to source gearboxes for older and discontinued models through our supplier network. Submit an inquiry describing your vehicle and gearbox requirements and our team will advise on availability.
What is the difference between a long block and a short block?
A short block includes the engine block, crankshaft, pistons, and connecting rods. A long block adds cylinder heads, camshafts, and valve train components. A complete engine includes all ancillaries. Please specify which configuration you require when submitting your inquiry.
🔩 Spare Parts Questions
Questions about individual auto parts and components
What spare parts do you supply?
We supply a broad range of spare parts including cylinder heads, cylinder blocks, crankshafts, ECU/computer boxes, headlights, fog lights, brake components, suspension parts, cooling system parts, body panels, and more. If you do not see what you need listed, contact us — we can often source it through our network.
Can you source a part if I only have a part number?
Yes. If you have an OEM part number, manufacturer part number, or reference number, please include it in your inquiry. This is often the fastest way to locate the correct component and obtain an accurate quote.
Do you supply electrical components and ECUs?
Yes, we supply ECU (Engine Control Unit) computer boxes and various electrical components for a range of makes and models. Compatibility should be verified using the vehicle VIN and part number where possible.
Can I send a photo to help identify a part?
Absolutely. If you are unsure of the part name or number, a clear photo of the part itself and any identification labels helps our team identify the component accurately. Include photos when submitting your inquiry.
📋 Sourcing & Quotes
How we find parts and prepare quotes for you
How does the sourcing process work?
You submit an inquiry describing the part, vehicle details, and destination. Our team checks our inventory and supplier network — including recycling centres, engine importers, and parts distributors across Canada and internationally. We then provide you with a quote including the part price and estimated shipping cost.
How long does it take to receive a quote?
Quote turnaround depends on the complexity of the inquiry and supplier availability. Most standard requests receive an initial response within 1–3 business days. Complex or rare part inquiries may take longer as we contact multiple suppliers.
Is a quoted price final?
Quotes are subject to confirmation based on supplier availability and shipping rates at the time of order. Canada Parts Exports will not invoice an amount different from the confirmed quote without notifying you first.
What if the part I need is not listed on your website?
Our website shows examples of parts we have successfully sourced — it is not a complete live catalogue. If you need a part not shown, submit an inquiry. We will check our network and advise whether we can source it.
Do you handle bulk or trade orders?
Yes. If you require multiple units, fleet sourcing, or regular supply arrangements, please mention this in your inquiry. Trade and bulk enquiries are handled by our sales team.
🚢 Shipping & Export Questions
How parts are shipped internationally from Canada
Which countries do you ship to?
Canada Parts Exports exports to customers across Africa, the Middle East, Asia, the Caribbean, Central America, South America, Europe, and beyond. If you are unsure whether we ship to your country, include your destination in your inquiry and we will confirm.
What shipping methods are available?
Shipping method depends on the size, weight, and destination of the parts. Common options include air freight for smaller components and sea freight (Full Container Load or Less than Container Load) for engines, transmissions, and bulk orders. We will advise the best options with your quote.
How long does shipping take?
Shipping times vary by destination and shipping method. Air freight to most destinations typically takes 3–10 business days. Sea freight can take 2–8 weeks depending on the destination port. Estimated transit times are provided with each confirmed order.
Who handles customs and import clearance?
Customs clearance at the destination is typically the responsibility of the buyer. Canada Parts Exports can provide necessary export documents including commercial invoices and shipping documentation. We recommend consulting your local customs authority or a licensed customs broker for import requirements in your country.
Are there any parts you cannot export?
Certain restrictions may apply depending on destination country regulations, export control lists, or part categories. Our team will advise if any restrictions apply to your specific inquiry.
